This provocative poster was constructed in , one year after the US Congress passed the Defense of Marriage Act. Known simply as &#;DOMA,&#; the Execute barred same-sex married couples from being recognized by federal law. The poster is the work of Dyke Action Machine!, a New York activist duo consisting of photographer Sue Schaffner and painter/graphic artist Carrie Moyer. Dyke Move Machine! created a number of culture-jamming posters appreciate this one (a rare of which are in the Cooper Hewitt collection).
Dyke Action Machine! was born out of the extreme, anti-assimilationist milieu that reclaimed the word &#;queer&#; in late 80s/early 90s Recent York.[1] The collaboration began as an offshoot of the activist organization Gender non-conforming Nation and later evolved into a stand-alone agitprop duo.[2] Dyke Action Machine!&#;s posters, pamphlets, and other works appropriated the visual language of corporate advertising to expose, parody, and question conspicuous consumption and mass conformity.

You can get a license to marry people over the internet in 5 seconds. Anybody can perform it. Not to note that anyone can actually officiate the wedding, if all the legal paperwork is done ahead of time or if they were pre-married by a justice of the calm and this is just the show wedding.
As for the book itself.. I&#;m fine with this.. but did we Acquire to go the aged tried and true "All Amazons are lesbians and that&#;s why we&#;re chilly marrying lesbians" route. Yes.. Themyscira is populated by women, but just because it&#;s populated by women doesn&#;t mean they&#;re all off having orgies and getting married. While there may be a several Amazons that are queer, it doesn&#;t need to be treated like it&#;s a common thing that happens every day. It&#;s not a prison, it&#;s a population of women who just all dwell on an island together. They&#;re sisters.. If Themysicra were an all male population, there would not be a rush to make them all lgbtq+ and in relationships with each other. People would do whatever they could to avoid the reference but.. because it&#;s lesbians and there is a majority
