  Our Mission

  The mission of the Santa Fe Human Rights Alliance (HRA) is to educate, engage, encourage, and celebrate LGBTQ+ inclusion, self-acceptance, and acceptance for all people.

  The Human Rights Alliance was founded in 1993 in response to the defeat of Senate Bill 91, civil rights legislation for lesbians and homosexual men. Rallying around the enthusiasm of our grassroots crusade, local activists connected together to create this non-profit organization whose central goal was to terminate discrimination of all kinds. HRA seeks to construct coalitions with groups that will work for the civil rights of all New Mexicans and to develop outreach programming to support the community.

  In addition to these goals, we organize the annual Santa Fe Pride Festival, held every year at the end of June. Identity festival Santa Fe is a wonderful event for all Santa Fe citizens to celebrate the unique, diverse, supportive, artistic community that is Santa Fe.

    Birds of a Feather LGBT Community Location

    Birds of a Feather Community is located in Pecos, New Mexico, The Land of Enchantment just 25 miles southeast of Santa Fe, the state capital.

    Our LGBT people is nestled in the midst of 140 acres of beautiful pine forest and meadows. Our property is also surrounded by the foothills of the Sangre de Cristo Mountains and thousands of acres of National Forest Area called the Pecos Wilderness. Meandering through this forest are 1,002 miles of mapped trails providing many opportunities for hiking, horseback riding, biking and fishing. There are 400 miles of streams and several remote high-country lakes.

    Pecos is a small, amiable village located just 3 miles from Birds of a Feather. The village has a medical center, ambulance service, several restaurants (including a gay-owned restaurant called Frankie's), convenience stores, gas station, bank, announce office and even a Dairy Queen!
